This package brings together world-class fishing and first-class accommodations. The small lodge is the only all-inclusive fishing lodge operating out of Sandspit. A short drive from Sandspit airport in our shuttle van will bring you to our beach front lodge overlooking Hecate Strait. Situated on the waters edge with sandy beaches this is an small intimate lodge catering to only eight people per trip making it the perfect private fishing getaway for smaller groups.

After a fun day on the water you can expect to be spoiled with chef prepared entrées and appetizers using locally caught seafood. Enjoy an after dinner stroll on the beach, gather around the beach fire or just simply relax and enjoy the creature comforts of the lodge. The lodge is set up with a cell booster and Wi Fi so you can stay connected during your stay. There are four single rooms and two double rooms with four bathrooms to share between them, so groups of six or less always get a room to themselves.

Beginning in May every year large schools of chinook (king) salmon feed heavily as they move through the waters of Cartwright Sound on the west coast of Haida Gwaii. Great fishing for chinook in the 18 to 40 pound class can be had throughout the length of the season from May through September each year. This is one of the longest season for chinook salmon fishing on the coast. There is a fair share of really big fish too, every season decent numbers of 40 to 50 pound chinooks are landed and in recent years the “west side” has put up some impressive numbers of quantity and size, boasting several fish in the 60 to 70 pound range. Good numbers of Coho start showing up in early July and remain for the season but it is the consistently good chinook fishing that really is the highlight of the Sandspit/Cartwright Sound area.

When it comes to halibut fishing in British Columbia, it doesn’t get much better than the west coast of Haida Gwaii. The western shoreline of the islands sits on the edge of the continental shelf and large numbers of migratory halibut move up this shelf from the deep to feed along the banks and structure within Cartwright Sound. Most halibut range from 20 to 120 pounds with good numbers of these being in the 50 to 80 pound class. There are few places on the Pacific that can boast this type of consistently awesome bottom fishing. There are also often larger halibut that climb on, from 150 to 300 pounds plus! There are also abundant coastal reefs loaded with lingcod, giant red snapper and a variety of rockfish species. In Cartwright Sound it is not uncommon to end up with a full limit of all bottom fish species while fishing in the same spot.
