Meet our Fleet!
The fleet consists of three charter boats. These boats are some of the fastest charter boats in Vancouver giving us the capability to run where we have to put our clients into fish consistently. Most of the fishing is done within 20 minutes of the docks but these bigger faster boats give the ability to run to all the fishing hotspots.
For smaller groups of up to four people, we use our two Grady White 23-foot Gulfstreams. These are the best fishing boats of their size on the water. The ideal layout of the Grady White maximizes deck space for comfort and fishing. The boat is equipped with the latest in fishing, navigation and safety gear. All boats have covered cabins, plenty of seating and are plenty of space for all. For larger groups of 5+ people we use our 30-foot Grady White Marlin.
Chromer’s reputation depends on offering only the finest fishing experiences BC has to offer. On our Vancouver salmon charters we’re not just hooking you up with the best guides but also with first-class experiences and these boats are the best in Vancouver, that’s a guarantee.
Vancouver Salmon Fishing Seasons
We enjoy nearly year-round salmon fishing in Vancouver. Obviously some times for fishing are better than others, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening throughout our season.
Winter Fishing in Vancouver - Our season kicks off in January, this is when winter chinook (king) salmon come into local waters to feed. These are juvenile fish that usually range from about 2 to 10 pounds. Vancouver salmon fishing is usually hit or miss from during the winter months, but does start becoming more consistent as we move into the Spring
Spring Fishing in Vancouver - April and May is when fishing ramps up and some bigger chinook salmon start arriving. Some of the best fishing during this period is from mid May to late June on the southern Gulf Islands, an area we run to on our 10 hour charters. This is historically a fantastic fishery with solid numbers of chinooks in the 10-20 pound range.
Summer Fishing in Vancouver – From July through until September you can’t go wrong, the fishing is very consistent for a variety of salmon including chinooks, cohos (silvers), pinks and sockeye. Great fishing combined with really nice weather, it’s tough to beat! We are very busy during the summer months so contact us early.
Fall Fishing in Vancouver – September and October are both really good months for our local salmon fishery, 15 minutes from our moorage. It is the run of Capilano River salmon that we target and some of the biggest fish of the season come during these months.
If you are curious how the fishing is during exact dates, let us know and we’ll be sure to give you a detailed report.
FAQ’s About Salmon Fishing in Vancouver…
Here are some commonly asked questions of our Vancouver salmon fishing charters and the answers you need to plan your trip!
What about fishing licenses? You will need a fishing license. Licenses are very affordable and are priced based on if you’re a canadian resident or not. To keep salmon you will also need to include a pacific salmon stamp. All anglers 16+ years need a license.
Where do I get a fishing license? Upon booking we’ll send you a link to the government website that sells licenses. You buy one there, print it off and bring it with you for your day of fishing. It’s really easy to do and takes less than 5 minutes.
What happens to the fish we catch? We clean, fillet bag all your fish for you to take home and enjoy. If you’d like to have them vacuum packed, frozen or boxed for transport there is a small seafood shop steps from the moorage that provides all those services.
Can we ship our fish home? Salmon can be shipped within Canada but not to the United States or overseas. There is only one company that is legally allowed to ship sport caught fish across the border and for the prices they charge you’re better off going out for a fancy seafood dinner!
Does the water get rough? Not generally, we are usually fishing in protected calm waters. On occasion we do get winds that can make the water a choppy but rarely is it so rough that guests become seasick.
Can you accommodate larger groups? No problem, we do lots of corporate and incentive charters for groups from 10-40 people. We even did a group of 80 people once, that was fun!
Are there bathrooms onboard? Yes, all our boats have bathroom facilities.

“I believe our catch for two days was 17 fish that we kept and with a more sober crew and reduced losses that amount could easily been doubled. I’m still riding a high of enjoyment. Chromer certainly made it happen and I can clearly say it certainly was a trip of a lifetime!”
