Ruddock’s Ranch Fly-Fishing Trips

Fly-fishing on the private lake at Ruddock’s Ranch is one of our most popular trout fishing trips and we’re pleased to be able to offer such a quality trip for wild fish. Yes, these are wild trout, not a stocked fishery. Packages include access to the private lake and wall tent accommodations but if you’d like to include transportation from Vancouver that can be arranged. Prices below are starting prices for packages based on a group of two. Two Day Package $350 CDN per person

Three Day Package $525 CDN per person
Three-Days Fishing / Two Nights Accommodation

Trips Include: Access to Ruddock’s Ranch private trophy lake. Wall tent accommodations.
Not Included: GST Tax 5%.  Wall tent accommodation is self-serve, meaning you must bring your own bedding, food and everything else for camping. There is a BBQ on site.
Dates: Limited offering of this trip from May to October.

Within easy driving distance from Vancouver and located in one of the sometimes forgotten regions of British Columbia Ruddock’s Ranch is one destination perfect for small groups looking for a fun, easy  and private fishing getaway.Here is a bit of information the will be helpful in planning your fishing trip to Ruddock’s Ranch.

Location:  Ruddock’s Ranch is just north of the town of Lytton, about three hours driving time from Vancouver. It is easy driving along well a main highway and well marked roads. We can arrange for transportation services from Vancouver for your group.

Prime Time:  Ice off is in early May, after that fishing is very good until mid July. The summer heat slows down fishing a bit but it picks up again starting in September through until early November.

How do you get to Ruddocks Ranch?   Ruddocks Ranch is located north of Lytton, BC, about 3 hours from Vancouver. Upon booking we’ll send you detailed instructions on how to get to the lake.
How big to the trout get at Ruddocks Ranch?   The lake definitely breeds big fish, you’ll have a good chance at a double digit wild trout while there, but the average size is in the 1-4 pound range.
Can we keep fish at the lake?   No, the lake is strictly catch and release with a fly-fishing only rule in effect.
What are the best flies to use?   Stripping small leech patterns proves very effective as do chironomids in the spring months. In the summer damsel fly nymphs are popular as are dragon fly nymphs.

What are the accommodations like at Ruddocks Ranch?   The only accommodations available are rustic wall tents that are group together overlooking the lake. You have to bring all your own supplies, including sleeping gear. There are makeshift cots in each wall tent. There is a fire pit and BBQ area. There is no running water or electrical services.
