Salmon Fishing in Prince Rupert

The Prince Rupert area and northern coast of British Columbia are really the first to experience the influx of millions of salmon as they leave the Gulf of Alaska and migrate south. This makes it a prime area to target trophy chinook (king) salmon and feisty northern coho (silver) salmon.

You’ll be fishing the area around Dundas Island, north of Prince Rupert, one of the most prolific salmon fishing areas in BC and accessed only by the very few. Chinook fishing is best in late May, June, July and August. Coho fishing is best in August and September.

This area is also a favourite for those looking for halibut and bottom fishing. A rich bottom offers anglers fishing for halibut fishing over 100 pounds, ling cod, rockfish and other bottom dwellers.

The Vessel

A 52′ Wahl built cabin trawler will be home as you travel BC’s northern coast enjoy uncrowded surroundings, hard-hitting salmon and bottom fishing. She is well suited for extended cruising and fishing trips. She comes fully equipped with the latest in electronics and safety equipment and a cruising speed of 8 knots with a range of 2000 miles.
