A sturgeon fishing adventures on the remote stretches of the upper Fraser canyon, an area know for having greatest sturgeon fishing found anywhere in the world. Trips depart about 3 hours northeast of Vancouver.

Sturgeon Fishing the Lower Fraser River

Our guide will pick you up at the Coast Hotel in Chilliwack to start your day.  With jetboat in tow you’ll have about a 15 minute drive to the river.  Once launched you’ll spend the day fishing the lower reaches of the Fraser River and sometimes the Harrison River.

An average day during the summer months may have each boat into five or six sturgeon with more being common. There is also a pretty good chance that you will see a few fish in the six foot range with bigger ones a very real possibility.

Sturgeon Fishing the Upper Fraser River

Here is a unique trip not offered by many. Our guide on the Upper Fraser River will meet you in Chilliwack for the 1.5 hour drive to Lytton. From there you’ll launch the boat and travel to untouched water that few ever see. Expect some of the world’s best sturgeon fishing on this trip. The upper Fraser River is where you’ll find the most prolific sturgeon fishing. Rarely are fish under five feet and each year we find some monsters over seven feet. This trip is more expensive but is a must for serious sturgeon anglers!

Best Time for Sturgeon Fishing

Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River is pretty consistent year round but the best time to target these big sturgeon is between the months of March and November. High water during the spring snow melt get sturgeon moving and they continue to be active until the fall when the abundance of spawning salmon carcasses begin to compete with angler’s baits. Sturgeon fishing is the perfect summer fishing trip option. All sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River is completely catch and release.
