This will help when it comes to planning your British Columbia fishing trip with us, or if you’ve already made arrangements to visit BC this will let you know what’s happening when and where.

Multi-Day Trips

  • Gold River Steelhead Fishing:  The Gold River got off to a slow start this year but that just means the good fishing will come later on in the season. With an increase in river levels the fishing on the Gold River should be solid in February and March. This is the premier steelhead river on Vancouver Island and  Read more…
  • North Island Steelhead Fishing: Same story goes for the rivers on northern Vancouver Island. Cold temperatures have rivers low and clear but as we move into February and March fishing here will only get better as more fish move into north Island systems. This is a beautiful part of BC that sees very little angling pressure. Definitely worth the drive if you’re looking for a unique winter steelhead experience. Read more…

Day Trips

  • Vancouver Salmon Fishing:  Things are looking good on the Vancouver salmon fishing front. There has already been some decent fishing in January for chinook (king) salmon and it will only get better as we move into February and March this year. Read more…
  • Fly Fishing near Vancouver:  In February we’re still predominately targeting trout and chart on our local rivers but as we move into March that is when our steelhead season starts!  Chromer’s March and April schedule is getting filled up already so if you’re looking for a spring time fly-fishing trip from either Vancouver or Whistler let us know. Our fly-fishing trips include everything you need for a day out on the water and we pick you up anywhere in the downtown core for your day out. Read more…

Meet Your Hosts

Meet Your Hosts

This is the ultimate trip for personalized spey casting instruction.  You’ll be with two of Canada’s most well-regarded spey casting instructors, Tim Arsenault and Brian Niska.

Tim is a master casting instructor and one of the funnest guys you’d ever want to spend a week fishing with.  His incredible casting style has landed him in the Spey-O-Rama world distance casting competition in San Francisco several times and you’ll be sure to gain from his easy instructing style.

Brian is one of the most well-known spey casting instructors in the world. He has built a reputation of being the premier Skagit casting guru and has helped develop several lines and rods.

It’s rare to have two such instructors on one course, so expect lots of personal casting instruction bringing your spey game to new levels!

Spring Fishing on the Skeena

Spring Fishing on the Skeena

Steelhead fishing on the Skeena River starts in late March and continues to be consistent through mid May. Our late April week for this spey improvement trip is right smack in the middle of prime steelhead time giving you the best opportunity at fresh chrome Skeena steelhead.

These Spring steelhead are aggressive, often chasing a swung fly clear across a run. They are bright, translucent finned beauties that are truly stunning and often pull much harder than fish arriving later in the year. Although steelhead fishing in April on the Skeena may not produce the numbers like in the Fall season, the quality of fish is unsurpassed, wild specimens fresh off open ocean!

Each day you’ll travel by jetboat, fishing different water along the Skeena River. This is just as much a fishing trip as a casting course, double bang for your buck!

The Schedule

The Schedule

Here’s a trip that will give you loads of spey casting instruction but also lots of time on the water, swinging flies to wild steelhead. The schedule of this week maximizes fishing time!

April 20-24: The fun part! Enjoy five full-days of guided steelhead fishing on the Skeena River and of course all-day spey instruction. Evenings at the lodge.

Lodging for Spey Improvement Week

Lodging for Spey Improvement Week

This is one of the few lodges in Terrace located within steps of the Skeena River. Some of the jetboats are right at the front door, no driving to the river at this location, just wake up and wade out!

Guests enjoy single rooms with private baths, so no sharing, and the lodge limits its capacity to only six guests per week, making for a warm atmosphere among friends. The large recreation room has a fireplace, bar and pool table with expansive views of the Skeena River and surrounding mountain ranges. The lodge is located about 10 minutes driving time from the Terrace airport and within easy access to Terrace’s town centre. Delicious food, warm hospitality, private rooms and great fishing combine perfectly to make this a perfect package.
