ABOUT THE LODGE
The lodge is located on a large piece of private land right on the banks of the Bulkley River. Newly built in 2010, this is now the pinnacle of steelhead lodges anywhere in British Columbia.
The main lodge building houses a comfortable lounge, dining room, open kitchen and bar area. Watch the cooks prepare fresh meals, put your feet up in the lounge and enjoy a cocktail or three after a day on the water. The lodge has a capacity of only twelve guests at a time. This ensures an intimate environment and personalized service.
One of our clients favourite features of this lodge is the private rooms. No sharing, everybody gets their own room in six log cabins on the lodge grounds.
While fishing on the Morice River you’ll stay at a boat-access only lodge on the upper Morice. This is a very comfortable wilderness lodge with private cabins located right on the river. This is one of the most remote steelhead lodge locations in northern BC.

About the Remote River Camps on the Bulkley
On the Bulkley River canyon packages you’ll be overnighting at two exclusive remote river camps. These camps are located on isolated sections of the Bulkley River and allows for access to water that few people ever fish.
The camps are equipped with very canvas wall tents on raised wooden decks. Located midway points on the river, these camps are strategically positioned to give you access to as much untouched water each day as possible. At days end you’ll have dinner around the fire and are welcome to fish the camp water as late as you’d like. Watch our video we shot in the canyon below….
Bulkley Steelhead Fishing Info
The Bulkley is a major tributary of the Skeena River and home to one of the largest run of summer steelhead anywhere in the world.
From it’s headwaters on the Morice River, to the steep rock-walled sections of the lower canyon the Bulkley offers consistent steelhead fishing during the late summer and fall months. The 250 kilometres of the Bulkley is forever changing. The upper river is made up of sweeping runs and classic steelhead water. The lower section, also known as the canyon water, runs at a steeper gradient with pocket water that moving fish rest in.
The Bulkley steelhead, like all runs on the Skeena system, are wild fish. No hatcheries have ever been implemented on the Skeena watershed, making for a fishing experience like nothing else in North America.
Bulkley steelhead average in the 8-15 pound range with bigger fish in the 20 pound class certainly a possibility. The steelhead on the Bulkley are well known for their love of skated dry flies in the early season. As we move into October most fish are taken on swung wet streamers.
We’re big fans of the Bulkley, it has treated our clients very well over the years and we certainly recommend putting it on your steelhead bucket list!

What happens if Bulkley River conditions are no good? For the most part the Bulkley maintains very good condition all season long so it is rarely an issue. If there are heavy rains there is always the option of fishing the upper Bulkley or Morice River.
