Vancouver Salmon Fishing Seasons

Winter - Salmon fishing in Vancouver kicks off every year in January. This is when winter chinook (king) salmon come into local waters to feed. These are juvenile fish that usually range from about 4 to 20 pounds. Most people don't think of salmon fishing in Vancouver during the winter exists, but this can be one of the most exciting times with plenty of action. These salmon stick around throughout the winter and into the spring.
Summer - Migratory chinook salmon begin showing up in early summer with fish ranging from about 10 to 30 pounds. These salmon stick around until late September. Coho salmon also inhabit our waters from June through October. Many people are surprised by the long salmon fishing season we enjoy in Vancouver, so if you're visiting and would like to get out for a day, there is almost always something going on. For smaller groups, up to five people, there is a covered 23-foot Grady White Gulfstream. It is one of the best fishing boats of its size on the water.
