Fishing Around Prince Rupert
Fishing Around Prince Rupert
The Prince Rupert area and northern coast of British Columbia are really the first to experience the influx of millions of salmon as they leave the Gulf of Alaska and migrate south. This makes it a prime area to target trophy chinook (king) salmon and feisty northern coho (silver) salmon. You'll be fishing the area around Dundas Island, north of Prince Rupert, one of the most prolific salmon fishing areas in BC and accessed only by the very few. Chinook fishing is best in late May, June, July and August. Coho fishing is best in August and September. Halibut fishing is strong throughout the season with some fish tipping the scales over 100 pounds.
